Overview
This book as a clinical rehearsal
- Read the case and answer the candidate tasks aloud before scrolling.
- Attempt the three clinical decisions and the practical activity.
- Study the diagram and its short reading guide. Use browser zoom or landscape view if larger labels help.
- Answer six viva cards, then compare with the structured model response.
- Complete the mixed review and revisit the distinctions you found difficult.
A suggested study rhythm
Allow about 7 minutes for your first attempt and 5 minutes for feedback. This is a suggested revision format, not an official examination timing.
How to approach a skin station
- Describe morphology, surface change, distribution and symptoms before naming a diagnosis.
- Assess onset, progression, contacts, medicines and effects on daily life.
- Check the whole child: fever, pain, feeding, hydration and functional risk.
- Examine relevant hair, nails and mucosa with consent and appropriate privacy.
- Explain the diagnosis, demonstrate treatment and agree review and safety-net advice.
Clinical use
Educational material for paediatric trainees. Apply current local clinical and prescribing guidance when caring for a patient. Adapt communication to age and developmental needs, explain confidentiality and its safety limits, and involve specialist services when indicated. Case details are illustrative.
